The children at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church put their artistic talents to work and came up with “an illustrated guide” to winter for recent arrival Saw Eh Klu.
Saw, a refugee from Myanmar, was sponsored through the Canadian government’s Blended Visa Office Referral Program. He arrived in Saskatoon on November 8, after spending the last 10 years in a refugee camp in Thailand. He carried all of his belongings in one striped bag.
In their note to Saw, the grades 4, 5, and 6 class wrote: “In winter, the weather can be very cold. But if you dress warm, it can be a lot of fun.” The children offered a number of ideas for winter activities:
“We like to make snow men,” one student said.
Cross-country skiing and outdoor camping were two more suggestions.
And enjoying a cup of hot chocolate with marshallows or cookies.
Saw appreciated the advice!
