Support our Afghan refugees’ sponsorship

Nest is fundraising to support our sponsorship of former Afghan prosecutor Rohi Rasa and her husband Mojeeb to Saskatoon.

Rohi and Mojeeb, both lawyers, worked in the Attorney’s General Office of Afghanistan.

Rohi was the head of appellate section of Illegal Asset Recovery, where she and her staff identified and confiscated property and other assets held by criminals such as the drug mafia, who had close ties with the Taliban. When the Taliban seized power in August 2021, they released the criminals Rohi’s department had helped to jail.

In September 2021, the Taliban launched house-to-house searches looking for Rohi and other government officials. Prosecutors and judges were at the top of their list. To date, 19 Afghan prosecutors have been killed.

Rohi and Mojeeb fled the country. Nest responded to their plea for refugee sponsorship. They arrived in Saskatoon on August 30!

Nest needs $24,000 to support Rohi and Mojeeb for their first year in Saskatoon. All donations to Nest Saskatoon are tax deductible.

You can donate in one of three ways:
